Faculty AI Symposium Assets
The UC San Diego inaugural Faculty AI Symposium in May 2026 brought campus wide faculty together to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping teaching, research, and academic practice. Convened by Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla and the San Diego Division of the Academic Senate, the symposium featured faculty-led presentations, expert panel discussions, and a shared commitment to building an intentional, community-driven approach to AI at UC San Diego.

In this panel, moderated by Tricia Bertram-Gallant, Director of the Academic Integrity Office and the Triton Testing Center, panelists examined how AI is changing the conditions for learning, and what it means to design, facilitate, and assess student work when AI tools are widely available.
In this panel, moderated by Virginia de Sa, Professor of Cognitive Science and Interim Co-Director, Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute, panelists explored how AI is being used across teaching and research contexts, and what the broader implications are for academic inquiry, collaboration, and the evolving role of the faculty.

Twelve faculty members presented real-world examples of AI integration across disciplines, from course design and student feedback to research workflows and administrative practice.
