The best way to learn AI is by doing
The best way to learn AI is by doing — and by sharing what you learn along the way. TritonAI Connect brings together the communities, communications, and updates that keep you connected to AI at UC San Diego. Join a community of practice like the TritonAI Tools Working Group or the n8n Automation Working Group or bring your questions to AI Consulting Hours. Whether you want to swap experiments, ask questions, or stay in the loop, there's a place for you here.
Four ways to connect
- Join a communityFind a group that matches your work.
- Ask a questionBring a problem or an idea to a session.
- Share an experimentTell peers what you tried and what you learned.
- Stay in the loopGet news, trainings, and updates.
COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE
Learn by doing, together
You don't have to navigate AI on your own. Communities of practice across campus bring people together to share experiments, swap best practices, and learn from real work in progress. There's a seat at the table — we encourage you to join!
FOR THE AI CURIOUS
TritonAI Champions
Become part of a community of practice championing AI across campus. You don't need to be an expert — Champions are simply people who are curious about AI. Come share your latest experiments, ask questions, or learn from what others are trying. Led by AI Champions from across campus, the group focuses mainly on operational uses of AI, and sessions often include short trainings.
FOR POWER USERS
TritonAI Tools Working Group
Bringing together our most active and engaged TritonAI users monthly who help us spot issues early, inform the roadmap, and share what's working across the UCSD community.
FOR THOSE CONNECTING SYSTEMS
n8n Automation Working Group
A monthly forum for departments to prioritize n8n integration requests together, direct scarce engineering time to the highest-impact connections, and design guardrails before launch. It also escalates institutional blockers that need leadership action.
REAL WORK, REAL USE CASES
AI Use-Case Group
Explore the group and see how campus teams are applying AI to real work. The group meets every other Friday for presenter-led sessions open to staff, faculty, and researchers: bring an AI idea, and leave with a scoped use case and a clear recommendation on whether to proceed. Sessions are recorded and archived, so one team's experiment becomes shared learning for the whole campus.
FOR ACTIVE PROJECTS
AI Consulting Hours
Biweekly, time-boxed consultations that connect campus teams with senior AI talent — offering expert guidance at exactly the moment a project needs it, while keeping each team in the driver's seat.
BY DEPARTMENT
Departmental Use-Case Groups
Beyond the campus-wide group, several departments and cross-functional teams have started their own AI use-case groups, tackling challenges specific to their area of work. These groups are a chance to connect with colleagues doing similar work, see what's already being tried in your corner of campus, and avoid reinventing the wheel.
Jacob School of Engineering AI Show and Tell — An informal venue for sharing ideas about harnessing AI — and addressing the issues it raises — in teaching, research, and administration within the Jacobs School.
